SPECIFICATIONS FOR LEAN-TO BUILDINGS

 

 

GEN
General

All buildings shall be as manufactured by Parkline, Inc., Winfield, WV or equal.

Each building shall be supplied complete with all necessary component parts, including drill in foundation anchors, to form a complete building system and all parts shall be new and free from all defects or imperfections.

The building width and length shall be measured from the outside of the building wall panels and the height of the building shall be the distance measured from the bottom surface of the base channel to the exterior juncture of the roof and sidewall panels.

The building supplier shall supply a complete set of building erection drawings showing a step-by-step construction sequence for the erection of the building. The erection drawings shall be prepared specifically for the building covered by these specifications showing the location of all roof and wall accessories and the exact anchor bolt locations required for each accessory.

DC
Design Criteria

All buildings shall be designed in accordance with the applicable sections of the latest edition of the AISC "Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings" and the AISI "Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Steel Structural Members".

Each building shall be designed for the following loads, in addition to the stationary weight of the building. Reduction of loads due to tributary loaded areas will not be permitted.

1. The vertical Live Load of the building shall not less than pounds per square foot applied on the Horizontal projection of the roof.

2. The Ground Snow Load of the building shall not less than pounds per square foot applied on the Horizontal projection of the roof.

3. The horizontal Wind Load of the building shall be not be less than MPH and shall be distributed and applied in accordance with the applicable edition of the "International Building Code" published by the International Code Council.

All combining and distributing of auxiliary equipment loads imposed on the building system shall be done in accordance
with the applicable section of the 2000 edition of the "International Building Code" published by the International Code Council

Upon request, the selected building manufacturer shall provide the building purchaser with complete design certification signed and sealed by a registered professional engineer.

RPD
Roof Panel Design

Roof panels shall be supplied in a single continuous length from eave line to eave line or ridge line and shall be designed to tightly interlock so that no fasteners are required at intermediate points along the panel side laps.

Roof panels shall be 16" or 12" wide with a smooth surface between the interlocking side ribs. The interlocking ribs shall be a minimum 3" high, and shall be turned upward. All roof panels shall be factory punched for connection at the eave line of the building.

There shall be no fastener penetrations through the roof covering except at eave lines, ridge lines and roof accessory openings such as skylights and ventilators.

RPDW
Roof panels shall be nominal ____ gauge galvanized steel conforming to ASTM A-653 specifications with the galvanized coating conforming to G90 (1.25 oz. commercial) standards. Minimum yield strength of the panel material shall be 50,000 PSI.

Roof panels shall receive a factory, roller applied, paint coating having an exterior coating thickness of 0.8 to 1.2 mils of dry film thickness.

The roof panel color coating shall carry a low fire hazard rating equal to a Class 1 material as defined by Factory Mutual. The Panel coating shall have achieved a Flame Spread Index of 0 and a Fuel Contributed Index of 5 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 test procedures.

The finish coat shall be a white siliconized polyester formulation that will meet the following performance standards after 10 years continuous exposure in "normal" atmospheric conditions not containing corrosive fumes such as chemicals or salt spray.

1. Panels shall show no evidence of blistering, peeling, or chipping.

2. Panels shall not show surface chalking in excess of the No. 4 rating D659 as established by the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM).

3. Panels, after cleaning, shall not show color change in excess of 7 NBS units when measured in accordance with the ASTMD-2244 standard.

The above performance standards shall not apply where panels have been damaged by fire, radiation or other physical damage.

RPDG
Roof panels shall be a nominal __ gauge steel coated on both sides with a coating of corrosion resistant aluminum-zinc alloy conforming to ASTM A 792 specification with the coating conforming to AZ55 (55%) standard by a continuous hot dipping process. Coating weight shall be a minimum of 0.50 oz. of aluminum-zinc alloy per square foot of coated sheet equivalent to about 0.8 mil thickness on each side. Minimum yield strength of panel material shall be 50,000 PSI.

WPD
Wall Panel Design

Exterior wall panels of the building shall be a single continuous length from the base channel to the roof line of the building at the sidewalls and endwalls of the building except where interrupted by wall openings.

Wall panels shall be 16" wide with a 3" deep inward turned interlocking side rib. Wall panels shall contain two 3/4" deep by 3-1/8" wide fluted recesses, each starting 2-7/16" from the panel edge.

Wall panels shall be fastened internally to the base channel and eave cap of the building with 3/8" diameter electro-galvanized machine bolts placed within the panel interlock. The fastening system shall be designed so that no wall fasteners are exposed on the exterior surface of the walls.

Wall panels shall be nominal 24 gauge galvanized steel conforming to ASTM A-653 specifications with the galvanized coating conforming to G90 (1.25 oz. commercial) standards.

Minimum yield strength of panel material shall be 40,000 PSI. Panel material shall be embossed with a random pattern pebble embossure of approximately .007 - .008 depth.

All exterior surfaces of the galvanized steel wall covering and exterior trim shall receive a factory, roller applied, paint coating having an exterior coating thickness of 0.8 to 1.2 mils of dry film thickness. The finish coat for wall panels shall be a siliconized polyester formulation of one of the following Parkline colors: Twilight Blue, Desert tan, Laurel Green, Arctic White, Harvest Gold, Shell Gray, or Roman Bronze.

The wall panel color coating shall carry a low fire hazard rating equal to a Class 1 material as defined by Factory Mutual. The panel coating shall have achieved a Flame Spread Index of 0 and a Fuel Contributed Index of 5 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 test procedures.

Exterior color coatings shall meet the following performance standards after 10 years continuous exposure in normal atmospheric conditions not containing corrosive fumes such as chemical fumes or salt spray.

LT1
Lean-To Building

Each building roof shall have 1-1/2" pitch in building width. Roof panels shall be interlocking and attached to the wall cap through factory punched holes with #14 corrosion resistant fasteners.

The roof system shall include a gutter and downspout systems at low sidewall and matching rake trim at the building endwalls. All gutters and trim shall be nominal 26 gauge galvanized steel prepainted Arctic White or Roman Bronze.

Transmission of horizontal wind loads across the building shall be made through the panel roof system and no separate roof or wall diagonal bracing shall be required.

Structural support and attachment of roof at existing building shall be the responsibility of others. In snow prone areas, drifting should be considered.

LT2
Lean-To Building

Each building roof shall have 1/2" in 12" slope. Roof panels shall be interlocking and attached to the wall cap through factory punched holes with #14 corrosion resistant fasteners.

The roof system shall include a gutter and downspout systems at low sidewall and matching rake trim at the building endwalls. All gutters and trim shall be nominal 26 gauge galvanized steel prepainted Arctic White or Roman Bronze.

HMD
Hollow Metal Doors

All doors shall be 1-3/4" thick flush type. Door panels shall be nominal 20 gauge galvanized steel reinforced by lamination to a honeycomb core enclosed with 16 gauge end channel. The hinge reinforcements shall be nominal 7 gauge and the lock reinforcements shall be nominal 16 gauge. Door frames shall be 4-3/4" deep double rabbeted type of nominal 16 gauge galvanized steel.

Doors and frames shall be factory painted with one coat of baked on primer. All doors shall be preassembled in their frames and hardware installed and tested prior to shipment. Field installation of single leaf door units shall not require any frame assembly, or door hanging.

HMDH
Door Hardware

Door hardware shall consist of:

3 - 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" standard weight, plain bearing hinges per ANSI A5133 630 Satin Stainless Finish with non- rising pins.

3-11/16" wide x 5/8" high extruded aluminum threshold. (Out Swing) 1/4" x 1/2" silicone rubber weatherstripping.

BBH
3 - 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" standard weight ball bearing hinges per ANSI A5112 630 Satin Stainless Finish with non-rising pins.

MORT
Mortise lockset per ANSI A156.13, Series 1000, Grade 1, Function F13, 626 Satin Chrome Finish (levers both sides).

KIKL
Cylindrical key in knob lockset per ANSI A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 2, Function F81, 630 Satin Stainless Steel Finish.

PASS
Passage set per ANSI A156.2, Series 4000, Grade 2, Function F75, 626 Satin Chrome Finish.

CLOSER
Door closer is certified to conform to ANSI 156.4 Grade 1 and meets exterior barrier free codes in 689 Aluminum Lacquer Finish.

CROSS
Rim Type "Cross Bar" panic device per ANSI A156.3, Type 1, Grade 1, Function 05, with 627 Satin Aluminum Finish.

PUSH
Rim type "Push Pad" panic device built to ANSI A156.3, Type 1, Grade 2, Function 08 with 689 Aluminum Lacquer Interior Finish and 626 Satin Chrome Exterior Finish.

DRLV
23" wide X 20" high Adjustable blade louver with mesh insect screen.

FO
Framed Openings for Overhead Doors

Framed openings shall be constructed from nominal 12 gauge galvanized steel. The jambs and head shall provide a minimum 2-1/2" wide inside surface for field mounting of overhead door track and hardware. Head and jamb covers to be nominal 24 gauge, embossed, painted wall color.

SLIDE
Sliding Doors

Sliding doors shall consist of a nominal 16 gauge galvanized steel channel framing system and embossed nominal 24 gauge prepainted arctic white ribbed covering. The doors shall be top hung design with a bottom guide rail.

REM-WALL
Removable Wall Section

Removable wall sections shall consist of a framed opening capable of supporting roof and wall loads when the wall section is removed. The removable section shall consist of the same materials as the permanent wall. Section shall be removable by unbolting from the inside of the building.

HSW
Horizontal Sliding Windows

Sliding windows shall be furnished factory glazed and complete with all attaching hardware and screen. The window unit shall be factory assembled for single unit installation.

All window sash sections shall be of 6063-T5 extruded aluminum and shall be color finished in white or bronze baked enamel. Windows shall meet or exceed ANSI/AAMA 101 and AAMA 1302.5 Specifications. All windows shall be factory glazed with

1/4" polished wire glass.

WAC
1/4" acrylic glazing.

WOG
1/4" obscure glass.

WPC
1/4" polycarbonate glazing.

FW
FIXED WINDOW

Fixed windows shall be furnished factory glazed and complete with all attaching hardware. The window unit shall be factory assembled for single unit installation. All window sash sections shall be formed from nominal 18 gauge galvanized G90 steel and factory color finished white or bronze baked on enamel.

WOK
WALL OPENING KIT

The building manufacturer shall supply all necessary framing and connectors to structurally replace the panels removed by any wall opening. All trim and flashings required to make weathertight the unit placed in any opening shall be provided by the supplier of the unit being installed.

AL
Adjustable Wall Louvers

Adjustable louvers shall be of self framing design. The louver frame shall be of nominal 14 gauge formed aluminum and the louver blades shall be nominal 12 gauge extruded aluminum. Finish shall be natural mill finish and shall not require field painting.

Blades shall be pivoted on 1/2" diameter aluminum pivot pins through nylon flanged bearings and operated by means of a pull bar operating handle. All louvers shall be complete with an exterior mounted 18 X 14 aluminum mesh insect screen.

ALF
Wall louvers shall have removable filters.

Motor Operator

FL
Fixed Wall Louvers

Fixed louvers shall be nominal 26 Gauge., G90 Galvanized Steel, 16"x16", general purpose type of self framing design with free area of 75 square inches. Finish shall be bright galvanized All louvers shall be complete with #8 insect screening.

RVT
Turbine Ventilator

Turbine vents shall be wind driven rotary type gravity roof ventilator with 8" or 12" diameter throat, fabricated from galvanized steel, externally braced.

RVC
Circular Roof Ventilators

Stationary ventilators for 3" or 4" roofs shall be 12" diameter gravity type fabricated from aluminum and shall be furnished complete with bird screen, operable disc type damper with chain and base.

RVP
Power Roof Ventilators

Power roof exhausters for 3" or 4" roof shall have a 12" diameter throat, capable of 280 CFM air movement at 1/8" static pressure and shall be equipped with adjustable thermostats. Power requirements of exhauster shall be .86 amps at 115 volts.

An intake louver of 115 square inches minimum free air area should be provided for each exhauster.


RC
Roof Curbs

Roof curbs shall be constructed of nominal 18 gauge galvalume 14 gauge galvanized steel framing members. Minimum height of curb shall be 8". All flashings shall be provided to ensure water tightness. Optional hatch or cover is available. Note: Interior clear height may be affected.

SKY
Skylights

Skylight panels shall be flat polycarbonate sheet, factory assembled into standard 16" wide flush interlocking panel. The polycarbonate sheet shall be 1/8" thick, clear with a matte finish, having a light transmission factor of approximately 70%. The panels shall meet ANSI Z97.1 safety glazing standard and UL94 flammability rating.

1. Skylight panels must be used alternately with solid panels.


2. Skylight for 6" rib roof panels are 8" wide in lieu of 12".


3. Skylight panels are field located as required.

Panels shall meet or exceed all requirements of Federal Specifications LP-505C. When subjected to ASTM-E-55T (Type U Equipment) simulated 1000 hours weather test, the panel shall show no loss of surface gloss or exposed glass fibers.

SWO-1
Sidewall Roof Overhang

The interlocking roof panels of the building shall overhang one foot outside of the building sidewalls. The roof overhang shall consist of a continuation of the building roof panels and shall not require any supporting beams, purlins, or columns. All panels shall be prepunched for connection to the building eave cap.

SWO-2
Sidewall Roof Overhang

The interlocking roof panels of the building shall overhang two feet outside of the building sidewalls. The roof overhang shall consist of a continuation of the building roof panels and shall not require any supporting beams, purlins, or columns. All panels shall be prepunched for connection to the building eave cap.


SWO-3
Sidewall Roof Overhang

The interlocking roof panels of the building shall overhang three feet outside of the building sidewalls. The roof overhang shall consist of a continuation of the building roof panels and shall not require any supporting beams, purlins, or columns. All panels shall be prepunched for connection to the building eave cap.

SWO-4
Sidewall Roof Overhang

The interlocking roof panels of the building shall overhang four feet outside of the building sidewalls. The roof overhang shall consist of a continuation of the building roof panels and shall not require any supporting beams, purlins, or columns. All panels shall be prepunched for connection to the building's sidewall cap.

VF
Vertical Fascia

The fascia system shall consist of a nominal 18 gauge galvanized steel framing and Parkline flush or fluted wall panels as selected by building owner.

All fasteners through the face of the fascia shall match the selected fascia color.

No through roof fasteners shall be allowed for attachment of the fascia to the building roof panels.

Mansard Facade

The facade system shall consist of a nominal 18 gauge galvanized steel framing and Parkline flush or fluted wall panels as selected by building owner.

All fasteners through the face of the facade shall match the selected facade color. No through roof fasteners shall be allowed for attachment of the facade to the building roof panels.

ROLL-IN
Wall Insulation

The building walls shall be insulated with 3" thick, fiberglass faced on its exposed side with a white metalized polypropylene scrimkraft facing. The faced insulation shall have a UL Flame Spread Rating of 25 when tested in accordance with UL723 of ASTM E-84 procedures. The insulation shall be retained between the interlocking panel ribs with a white PVC hat clip over the panel ribs. Hat clips shall be of self extinguishing material per UL Standard 651.

The "U" value through the insulated wall shall be a maximum of 0.19 BTU's per square foot when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition.

FFW
Wall Insulation

The wall system shall include 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation. The "U" value of the finished wall system shall not exceed 0.16 BTU's per square foot when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition.

Interior finish and vapor barrier for the wall system shall be supplied by others.

LIL
Lock-In Wall Liner

The interior of the building shall be lined with a factory assembled insulated metal liner having no exposed fasteners except at the matching base, ceiling and accessory trim.

Liner panels shall be 16" wide and shall be nominal 26 gauge embossed galvanized steel, prepainted Arctic White. Insulation shall be non combustible, nominal 1" thick, 2# density fiberglass laminated to the liner panel. The "U" value of the finished wall system shall not exceed 0.19 BTU/sf when measured in accordance with ASTMC-236.

LILF
The void between the exterior wall panel and the lock-in liner shall be insulated with 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation. The "U" value...0.13 BTU/sf when measured in accordance with ASTMC-236.

LILP
Lock-In liner Plus

The interior of the building shall be lined with a factory assembled insulated metal liner having no exposed fasteners except at the matching base, ceiling and accessory trim.

The wall liner system shall have a concealed insulating board of 1 1/2" thick polyisocyanurate foam impaled on rib clips.

Liner panels shall be 16" wide and shall be nominal 26 gauge embossed galvanized steel, prepainted Arctic White. Insulation shall be non combustible, nominal 1" thick, 2# density fiberglass laminated to the liner panel.

The void between the exterior wall panel and the lock-in liner shall be insulated with 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation with a calculated U of .05 for the total system.

FWL
Formed Wall Liner

The interior of the metal walls shall be lined with 32" wide, nominal 26 gauge galvanized steel panels, prepainted Arctic White with 1/4" high by 1" wide flutes on 8" centers. The exterior panel void shall have 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation.

The liner system shall be furnished complete with White base molding and White trim.

The "U" value of the finished wall system shall be 0.16 BTU's per square foot when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition.

FWL-PER
The liner shall have 1/8" diameter perforations spaced on 3/8" staggered centers. The complete wall system shall have been certified by an independent testing laboratory to have a minimum NRC rating of 0.90 when tested in accordance with
ASTM C423 standards.


A29
A29 Acoustical

The A29 Acoustical Wall System consists of a nominal 24 gauge galvanized steel panel, prepainted Arctic White with 1/4" high by 1" wide flutes on 8" centers. The liner panel shall have 1/8" diameter perforations spaced on 3/8" staggered centers. The exterior panel void shall have 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation. There shall be an eight inch thick, one inch wide, closed cell foam tape installed between the interior perforated liner and the exterior wall panel flange. The system shall have a NRC rating of 0.90 and STC rating of 29 when tested in accordance with ASTM E90 and E413.

A49
A49 Acoustical

The A49 Acoustical Wall System consists of a nominal 24 gauge fluted exterior panel with a minimum 3" thick, 16" wide, 4# density fibrous acoustical insulation in panel void. A 1/2" thick sound buffer board shall separate the exterior wall system and a flush 26 gauge metal septum panel. The septum panels shall be installed perpendicular to the exterior wall panels with voids filled with 3" thick, 16" wide, 4# density fibrous acoustical insulation. A vibration retardant tape will be installed between the
septum panel ribs and a perforated formed liner panel. The system shall have NRC of 1.00 and STC of 49 when tested in accordance with ASTM E90 and E413.

GB
Gypsum Board

The wall system shall include 3 1/2" thick, R11 unfaced fiberglass batt insulation, vapor barrier (optional), furring strips and 1/2" thick gypsum board.

PART
Partitions

Partitions shall be constructed of 3" x 16" interlocking flush type smooth or embossed surfaced panels in a nominal 24 gauge galvanized steel, factory painted Arctic White. Partitions will be furnished complete with base channel, wall cap and all required fasteners.

CEIL
Ceilings

The metal ceiling system shall consist of 3" deep 16" wide interlocking panels of nominal 24 gauge embossed galvanized steel, factory painted Arctic White. The ceiling system shall be supported at its perimeter by concealed angles and hook bolts. The ceiling system shall be furnished complete with all necessary connectors and fasteners.

CEIL3
The ceiling shall be insulated with 16" wide by 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation laid at right angles to the panel ribs. The "U" value through the finished ceiling shall be a maximum of 0.09 BTU's per square foot when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition. Eave height -6".

CEIL616
The ceiling shall be insulated with 2 layers of 16" wide by 3-1/2" thick R11 unfaced fiberglass insulation 1st layer laid in panel void, 2nd laid at right angles to the panel ribs. The "U" value through the finished ceiling shall be a maximum of 0.06 BTU's per square foot (R15.9) when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition. Eave height -6".

CEIL621
The ceiling shall be insulated with 2 layers of 16" wide by 3 1/2" thick R-11 unfaced fiberglass insulation laid at right angles to the panel fibs. The "U" value through the finished ceiling shall be a maximum of 0.05 BTU's per square foot (R21.3) when calculated in accordance with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition. Eave height -9".

CEIL-PER
Ceiling panels shall have acoustical perforations across 14" of the panel width. Perforations shall be 1/8" diameter on a patterned spacing of 3/8". The ceiling system shall have been certified by an independent testing laboratory for a minimum NRC rating of 0.95 when tested in accordance with ASTM C423 standards.

RI-1
Roof Insulation

Roof insulation shall consist of 48" wide, 3" thick, .6# density fiberglass faced on its exposed side with a white metalized polyproplene scrimkraft facing. The faced insulation material shall have a UL Flame Spread Rating of 25 when tested in accordance with UL 723 or ASTM E-84 procedures.

Insulation shall be supported at the roof line by means of mechanical clips spaced on maximum 4' centers and shall be
sealed by means of a 2" side tabs on the facing.

The "U" value through the insulated roof shall be a maximum of 0.10 BTU's per square foot when calculated in accordance
with the "Zone Method" contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals", 1981 edition.

RI-2
Therma-Roof

Roof insulation shall consist of 48" wide x 8'and 12' long polyisocyanurate foam board faced with a white embossed coated foil on the exposed interior surface.

Insulation shall have a maximum UL Flame Spread Rating of 25, fuel contributed rating of 10 and Smoke Developed Rating
of 155-190 when tested in accordance with UL723 testing methods and shall meet the requirements of the Underwriters
Laboratories "Wall-Ceiling" Construction Classification.

The roof insulation system shall include metal supporting tees on 4' centers and all trim required for a finished interior appearance.

Insulation thickness shall be 2", R9.1, R Value shall be calculated by the "Zone" method contained in ASHRAE "Handbook of Fundamentals" 1981 edition.

RI-3
Roof insulation shall consist of 48" wide x 8' and 12' long polyisocyanurate foam board faced with a white embossed
coated foil on the exposed interior surface.

Insulation shall have a maximum UL Flame Spread Rating of 25, fuel contributed rating of 10 and Smoke Developed Rating
